Kauvery Hospital launched Sweet 60 Geriatric Scheme for those Sixty-Somethings
Kauvery hospital launched ‘Sweet - 60’, a comprehensive geriatric care scheme, in an extension of its health care services to senior citizens, here recently. Veteran cinema director Late K Balachander released the first ‘sweet - 60’ card and Pattimandram fame Bharathi Baskar received it in the presence of renowned geriatrics doctor Dr V S Natarajan.
The members of the ‘sweet - 60’ club will be eligible for various services including a free geriatric check up, six free out-patient consultation and six telephonic consultations annually apart from 5 per cent discount on medicines, investigations and also room rent in case of in patient admission. They are also entitled for door delivery of medicines within a 5 kilometre radius and ambulance services in case of an emergency. Late K Balachander who gave a light hearted speech about the plight of senior citizens said, “geriatric services are the need of the hour now.” Dr Natrajan also emphasised that special care is what senior citizens who have multiple ailments need.
Bharathi Baskar who received the ‘Sweet 60’ card on behalf of her father gave a thought provoking talk on the value of the elderly and the importance of taking care of them. Dr S Aravindan, orthopaedic surgeon and executive director of Kauvery Hospital and Dr Lakshmipathy Ramesh, head of the department of geriatrics presided over the meeting.
