Thengai Paal Kanji is a porridge made with rice, fenugreek seeds (vendhayam/ methi seeds). This Kanji is an excellent home remedy for ulcer, also reduces blood pressure and helps in digestive problems. The healing effect of coconut and fenugreek coupled with anti-bacterial qualities does the wonder!

This Kanji is a traditional breakfast cuisine of Chettinad.

Ingredients:

  • Raw rice or Rice that you cook -1/2 cup
  • Garlic pods-10
  • Fenugreek seed -1 ½ teaspoon
  • Coconut milk 3 cups

Method:

Pressure cook the rice along with the garlic pods and fenugreek seeds with 2 cups water. Open the cooker and smash the rice with a ladle adding little salt. Now add 2 cups of coconut milk and dilute accordingly. Serve warm. If you are going to serve after a few hours,add extra coconut milk or warm water until you reach a desirable consistency.
