Foreign body: A boon at times

Case Presentation

A 56-year-old female, a known patient of bronchial asthma, presented with increasing symptoms for four weeks, with a history of aspiration of foreign body (nose pin screw) one month back.

Chest Xray showed a foreign body (FB) in the right bronchus with post-obstructive pneumonia. FB was removed with bronchoscope and rat tooth forceps under conscious sedation.

Evaluation prior to this procedure she was found to have Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) and Hypothyroidism and initiated on appropriate treatment. Though FB in bronchus was a harmful thing to get, in this instance she got diagnosed of her long standing comorbidities because of the FB.
