Elaneer Payasam

Elaneer payasam or tender coconut pudding is a mouth-watering, authentic South Indian dessert. It’s a super-easy recipe that is absolutely tasty and packed with nutrition.


Being a storehouse of dietary fibers, coconut pulp facilitates the prompt breakdown of ingested carbohydrates and proteins for enhanced digestion and keeps gastrointestinal problems like heartburn and bloating at bay.

Elaneer payasam is tasty, rich and easy to prepare dessert for any special occasion.


  • Tender coconut pulp – 3/4th cup
  • Tender coconut water – 1 cup
  • Milk – 1 cup
  • Jaggery powder – 1/4th cup
  • Cardamom (powdered) – 1
  • Almonds (blanched) – 5 to 7


  • Boil the milk.
  • Add the jaggery powder and stir continuously, to obtain a uniform mixture. Allow it to cool down to room temperature.
  • Grind the tender coconut pulp and coconut water along with the almonds and cardamom either to a coarse or smooth mixture depending on individual preferences.
  • Mix the ground pulp with the cooled milk.
  • Refrigerate and serve chilled.
