Navathaniyam or 9 mixed legumes 1 cup

Grind the items listed below coarsely
Coconut shredded 1/4 cup
Ginger 1” piece
Red chillies 2
Coriander seeds 1/2 tsp
Jeera 1/2 tsp
Curry leaves little
Asafoetida 1/4 tsp
Wash the beans and soak them in water for 6 hours or overnight.
Cook in a pressure cooker with water and salt for 3 whistles. When cools, strain and keep the cooked beans aside.
Heat coconut oil in a deep pan over medium flame and add mustard seeds. When it splutters add the ground masala. Stir for a minute.
Add the beans to it and toss.
Remove from heat and serve.
