Our dear passionate KWAY readers, this month’s edition starts with a warm welcome! Warm is not only the welcome but also our summer. Yes, the warmest month of the year is here.
Temperatures peaking so high we can see people planning vacations to cool themselves on one side.
On the other hand, we see students preparing for their entrance exams and having their adrenaline rush throughout this month.
The month of May will also be filled with youngsters, with complaints of exam anxiety, fatigue, dehydration, and anger.
Well, the weather isn’t the only thing hot, patients feel their emotions are let out as anger and especially in summer this emotion of anger just sparks up instantly.
The sweat and the heat make us lose our patience is what we think … but the science behind it is that in hot weather we tend to restrain ourselves from physical activity and also get dehydrated easily.
This leads to a decrease in our happy hormones and triggers anger easily.
People love their workplaces in summer.
Do you know why? It’s because the house is very warm, and we can’t use AC the whole time. The workplace is a place to beat the heat and stay cool.
At home, my patients invariably complain that fights and arguments are more in summer and managing kids at home during vacation and keeping them occupied is a big challenge.
Youngsters losing their patience has become universal complaint.
But the impatience cannot be solely blamed on the weather.
I guess the word patience is not there in there in their dictionary!
Especially our younger generations did not experience the feel of patience, so we can’t blame them for not knowing its importance.
If you remember in our school days about, we had to sit with the Oxford dictionary to find out the meanings of words and their synonyms. It will take hours for us to turn the pages and get the meanings.
The next day till our grammar teacher corrects we will need to wait for the approval …Our good old days!
But today we can instantly get any information, directions, ticketing and reach to anyone through technology.
No need to wait for anything.
Technology is a big boon and has really helped everyone have ample time in hand but unfortunately, the inner value of time management is lost in this digital advancement.
We gained so much from technology but at the same time, nobody wants to wait for anything.
If there is a small delay it triggers either anger or frustration.
A change of the people, place or plan is sought rather than to analyze the issue patiently.
The heat of the sun is beneficial, but our anger and heated conversation will never be beneficial in our lives.
Lifestyle, exercise, and good hydration should be our priority in summer.
Value the time, value the feel of being calm and composed.
Engage yourselves and encourage everyone to do regular physical activity, a diet in water vegetables and fruits and regular fluid intake and say bye to heat stroke, renal stones, UTI, and dehydration this summer.
Enjoy your summer.
Dear readers, on behalf of Kauvery Hospitals we wish all the labourers a great May Day and extend our gratitude towards them.

Have a great month ahead.

Highlights @ Kauvery
Hello Keen-minded Kauverians! Let’s welcome May with open arms!
So how was April for your guys? Well, our April was great. Right from organizing an Iftar party for our colleagues observing Ramadan to Pandhi virundhu to commemorate Chithirai Thiruvizha, it was more than just a feast for the senses. It was a celebration of togetherness. Events like this help us understand that despite our differences we are bound together by a shared sense of humanity and a commitment to encourage an environment where everyone feels valued, respected and included. Here’s to many more moments of joy, connection and celebrations to take place at Kauvery this summer and you will hear more about all of them in the months to come.
Apart from events, our 5S team from Kauvery Alwarpet visited CEAT Limited – Chennai plant and Siemens Gamesa located in Mamandur to understand how implementation of Quality standards such as 5S, Kaizen, Total Quality Management in the workplace leads to significant improvements in efficiency, productivity and overall organizational effectiveness. At Kauvery, we always feel Quality is not just a one-time initiative but also a continuous journey of improvement and innovation that requires ongoing commitment, dedication and collaboration at all levels of the organization. We provide a platform for all our employees to encourage continuous learning and picking up best practices from other industries and ideate those inputs to deliver the best patient care. Because at Kauvery Hospital we believe in adopting a patient-centered and employee-centered approach by promoting a culture of transparency and accountability.
Coming to the month of May, which is the peak of summer for all of us while children are in their vacation mode. Yes! You are right. It is all about agni-natchatram, which happens in the month of May for a period of 21 days. These 21 days are going to be extremely hot. Nevertheless, we Kauverians look forward to the month of May with excitement. But why? At Kauvery, every day is special, as we always take time to appreciate the moments and connections that each employee contributes towards making us what we are today. A couple of significant events during May that we are all eager about are Mother’s Day and Nurses Day. Women who are mothers’ balance the demands of their careers with the responsibilities of motherhood. Shuttling between the shop floor and the cook room is an uphill battle and they manage it with grace. Well, on the other side are our nurses who are always busy as little bees towards delivering extraordinary patient care. Though they are little bees, they occupy one-third of our workforce and they just win the hearts of our patients and doctors through their act of compassion. As we welcome May, let us also reflect on our goals and give our best.
IFTAR CELEBRATIONS
PANDHI VIRUNDHU
A Smile through Adversity
Every day is a new learning experience which brings new lessons and heartfelt moments for us in the hospital. I want to share our experience with a four-year-old boy who taught us all the true meaning of resilience and joy. “One, two, three! Giggles look, I got a six again! Now it’s your turn.” The four-year-old eagerly rolled the dice watching intently as they stumble across the Ludo board. As we play Ludo together, each roll of the dice becomes a moment of joy and connection, reminding me of the simple pleasures in life.
I was surprised by the interaction with a four- year-old chubby boy, laughing loudly and addressing everyone like his own brothers and sisters. He was a charming boy, everyone would love to be with him and give their attention. He had a renal disorder that made his feet and face to swell up. But know what? He was a happy kid! During his stay in the hospital he found joy in little things like color pencils, cartoons, board games and friendly nurses.
Though the four-year-old boy couldn’t articulate his pain in words, his body spoke volumes. His swollen face and feet silently conveyed the discomfort he endured. Yet, despite the physical challenges, his spirit remained resilient even when he had to get shots and take medicine, he never cried and he stayed brave.
Despite his mother being in a different part of the country and unable to be by his side, He remained remarkably mature and brave. Understanding the responsibility of his mother with his younger sibling and the weight on his father’s shoulders, he chose to remain strong and composed, never allowing his own feelings of sadness or pain to burden his dad. His spirit of joy became a pillar of strength for his father, guiding them both through the difficult days with love and courage.
The doctors and nurses who treated him were not just medical professionals but also a guardian angel. With a warm and compassionate demeanor, the doctor effortlessly connected with the child, their conversation was filled with laughter and playfulness, creating a sense of trust and comfort for both the child and his father. Finally, the doctor pronounced him fit to leave the hospital. With a heart full of gratitude and happiness, the father watched his son, recovered and with full of energy. His laughter rang out like a melody of hope.
In a world where everyone seemed to be busy, consumed by thoughts of the future and burdened by worries of every kind, this four- year-old boy taught me a valuable lesson of “stop overthinking and spread happiness”. In the game of life, it’s not about the moves that we make, but the laughter we share along the way that truly matters, cherish each moment, find joy in the simplest things, and embrace life with open arms.
