Dear Readers,

Another informative edition of K-Way welcomes you all on the morning of 1st July.

Happy Doctors Day! A day of celebration, respect and validation for the medical fraternity for their selfless service.

On this day, I would like to recall one of the most significant contributions to mankind by a doctor. Yes, I am talking about Dr Jonas Salk who invented the transformative polio vaccine. The 1940s saw the emergence of polio as a crippling disease which struck fear in the hearts of adults and children alike. Working tirelessly, Dr Salk invented the polio vaccine which he first tested on himself and his family to ensure its safety. In 1955, the vaccine was approved for public use – it would ultimately go on to save countless lives. Once approved, Dr Jonas Salk did something which till today stands as testament to his greatness – he refused to patent his vaccine thus giving up on 7 billion dollars of personal profit. In doing so, he became a role model for selfless service, inspiring doctors all over the world. [Read full message]
