Dr. Veerabahu Muthusamy is a senior Orthopaedic Surgeon with over 30 years of comprehensive clinical and surgical experience across India, the United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates. His career spans some of the busiest tertiary care centres, where he has performed a wide spectrum of advanced arthroscopic, trauma and joint replacement procedures with consistently strong outcomes .
He is extensively trained in arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder and knee, with deep expertise in procedures such as subacromial decompression, AC joint excision and reconstruction, rotator cuff repair and Bankart repair for recurrent shoulder dislocation. His knee practice includes high-volume arthroscopic meniscectomies, complex meniscal repairs and anatomical ACL reconstructions, supported by years of hands-on experience in both elective and trauma settings.
Dr. Veerabahu also specialises in primary total hip arthroplasty, total knee replacement and unicondylar knee replacement. His exposure to revision surgery, complex trauma and deformity correction work across multiple teaching hospitals has strengthened his ability to treat both routine and challenging orthopaedic conditions. Internationally, he has served for over a decade at Burjeel Hospital, Abu Dhabi, in two separate senior tenures, handling advanced arthroscopy, trauma, and joint replacement work within a multidisciplinary environment. His role included active mentorship of junior surgeons, operating room coordination and continuous adoption of evolving orthopaedic technologies. At Apollo Speciality Hospital, Chennai, he contributed to the arthroscopy and arthroplasty program, further consolidating his regional expertise and clinical leadership.
His academic involvement spans undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, journal clubs, case discussions, and structured training programs. With significant experience as Assistant Professor and Lecturer, he has taught large groups of trainees, supervised trauma theatres and contributed to shaping early-career orthopaedic surgeons. His publication on artificial intelligence in orthopaedics reflects his inclination toward integrating emerging advances into practical surgical applications .
