Dr. Thilagavathy is an experienced laboratory professional and seasoned Microbiologist with active involvement in Clinical Microbiology, Quality Assurance, Diagnostic Stewardship, and Laboratory Management. She completed her MBBS and MD (Microbiology) from esteemed institutions and has over 12 years of professional experience, including 3 years in the diagnostic industry and 9 years at Kauvery Hospital.

She currently serves as the Head of Laboratory Services and Head of the Department of Microbiology & Molecular Biology at Kauvery Hospital, Trichy. She has extensive expertise in infectious disease diagnostics, molecular microbiology, antimicrobial resistance, hospital infection control, and automation in laboratory medicine. She is adept at interpretation of smear microscopy, antibiogram analysis, endotoxin testing, and management of surveillance cultures in clinical settings. Her special area of interest includes transplant infections and complex infectious disease diagnostics.

Dr. Thilagavathy is actively engaged in academic activities including CME presentations, clinical case discussions, audits, and interdisciplinary collaboration with clinicians. Her current focus areas include implementation of advanced pre-analytical systems, laboratory workflow optimization, NABH/JCI compliance, laboratory quality improvement initiatives, and expansion of integrated diagnostic services.

  • Experience in interpreting Surveillance cultures and Air settle plate culture in OT.
  • Endotoxin testing of dialysis water and water culture.
