Patient’s story
She was a delicate and beautiful teenager, her eyes bright with hopes and plans for the future. Flanked by her mother (Amma) and aunt (Periamma), she spoke not of her illness, but of her goal to graduate in Commerce. There was an absence of fear in the room—a serenity born of total confidence in their clinical team. Having just started chemotherapy, she carried herself with the confidence of a student preparing for an exam she knew she would pass.
Outcome
The patient has begun her first cycle of chemotherapy in high spirits and clinical stability. While her journey toward a Commerce degree is temporarily diverted, the favorable DNA markers suggest a return to her studies within a reasonable time. Meanwhile, our hemo – oncology team is planning to present and publish their results in managing acute leukemias
