Renal Transplant

Kauvery Hospital offers comprehensive treatment in the form of renal transplants for End Stage Renal Disease. The Nephrology-Urology department takes pride in its teamwork and the Hospital is well equipped with latest diagnostic and therapeutic facilities. Kauvery offers living as well as deceased donor transplants not only for adults but for also children.

When the kidneys lose their function, that is filtering wastes from the body, toxic wastes start accumulating in the body. This is called Renal failure. This situation occurs when a patient suffers from certain diseases such as Malignant Hypertension, Chronic Infections, Diabetes, Glomeruli which is inflammation and scarring of the filters in the kidney, Polycystic Kidney Disease and also due to Autoimmune disorders like Lupus. Most of the patients who need a renal transplant will be mostly on dialysis.

A renal transplant may not be considered if the patient has Tuberculosis or a recent history of cancer, advanced heart, lung or liver disease and if the patient is a chronic smoker, alcohol or drug dependant.

The surgery takes approximately three hours. The donor kidney will be placed in the lower abdomen, the blood vessels from the donor kidney will be connected to the patient’s body and the ureter from the donor kidney will be connected to the patient’s bladder. Blood will start flowing through the new kidney and it begins its function of filtering.

Modern technology is utilised at Kauvery Hospital, Radial Road, to treat kidney stones, including minimally invasive procedures carried out through natural orifices &/or small incisions. The urologists have vast experience with percutaneous nephrolithotomy, a surgical treatment used to remove kidney stones. We also perform Ureteroscopy and Holmium LASER for the prompt removal of ureteral stones.

At Prostate Health clinic, we focus on early detection of prostatic abnormalities, for example: Prostate diseases screening in elderly men. Our doctors will recommend further tests to determine the presence of carcinogenic growth, such as TRUS Guided Prostate Biopsy, MRI, etc. Based on diagnosis, we provide an individualised treatment plan.

PSA (prostate-specific antigen) test is used to screen for prostate cancer and also to evaluate following prostate cancer surgery or radiation therapy to identify if cancer recurred.

Digital Rectal Exam (DRE) is used to examine the lower rectum, pelvis, and lower belly. This examination can assist in detecting cancer and other health issues, such as:

    • Prostate cancer in men
    • An abnormal mass in the anus or rectum

Genitourinary Cancers Clinic focuses on cancers found in the urinary system and the male reproductive system. These include prostate cancer, kidney cancer, bladder cancer, testicular cancer and cancers of the penis.

It is designed to treat men who have concerns about their fertility or their overall reproductive health. Through specialised diagnostic procedures & special tests, the root causes of male infertility are first determined. This will be followed by a personalised reproductive treatment plan including medicinal and surgical techniques to help rejuvenate and optimise male sexual function.

Uroflowmetry is a diagnostic technique that measures the volume & speed of your urination over time to look for issues. The procedure is simple and non-invasive. This test helps doctors determine your urine flow rate, potential urinary abnormalities, sphincter function, prostate concerns, and bladder problems.

We provide uro-trauma treatment for any injuries to the urinary tract or reproductive organs. It could be from any traumatic event or impact. It could be from a fall, traffic accidents, assaults, chemical or weapon injuries.

Urotrauma may affect a person’s sexual function, ability to reproduce or ability to urinate. Treatment is performed to repair an injury, treat symptoms, and avoid these issues. Patients may even require emergency surgery depending on the severity of the injury.
