Dr. Nareshkumar

Dr. Naresh Kumar is a Consultant in Cardiac Anaesthesia and Cardiac Critical Care at Kauvery Hospital and currently heads the Cardiac Critical Care Unit and Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory (Cath Lab). With close to a decade of experience in critical care medicine, he has extensive expertise in the perioperative management of high-risk interventional cardiology patients. His practice encompasses complex Percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty, structural heart interventions, transcatheter valve procedures, electrophysiology interventions, and mechanical circulatory support. His areas of special interest include transesophageal echocardiography (TEE), advanced hemodynamic monitoring, paediatric device closure procedures, and the peri-procedural management of patients requiring advanced mechanical circulatory support, including Impella, intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP), and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). He is committed to delivering precise, evidence-based, and patient-centred care.

Prior to his current role, Dr. Naresh served as the In-charge of the 8-bedded Emergency Medicine Intensive Care Unit at Government Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram, where he led the management of a broad spectrum of critically ill and complex medical emergencies. Following this leadership role, he worked as a Consultant in a multidisciplinary Intensive Care Unit for three years, further strengthening his expertise in managing diverse medical, surgical, and trauma-related critical illnesses. During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, he was among the first doctors to voluntarily serve in Kasaragod, one of the earliest epicentres of the outbreak in Kerala. His dedicated service during this unprecedented public health crisis earned appreciation from the State Health Minister and received recognition in leading newspapers.
