Dr K Madhan Kumar

Dr K Madhan Kumar is a highly accomplished cardiothoracic surgeon and expert in adult cardiac surgery (including beating heart/off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting and heart valve repair/replacement), ECMO, Ventricular Assist Devices (VAD) and heart-lung transplantation. Trained at St George’s Hospital and Harefield Hospital, London, he has performed over 300 thoracic organ transplantations (including heart, lung and heart-lung transplantation) with internationally benchmarked outcomes. He has also performed more than 300 ECMOs with results on par with international standards. He has been the author of various national and international journals & books. He has also been a faculty & speaker at numerous national & international conferences.

Dr K Madhan Kumar currently leads the cardiothoracic, ECMO, VAD and transplant surgery department at Kauvery Hospital. He serves as the Chairman of the ECMO Society of India (ESOI) (Tamil Nadu) and is a renowned faculty member, teacher, and trainer in the ESOI. A member of the Indian Association of Cardiovascular-Thoracic Surgeons (IACTS), the International Society for Heart & Lung Transplantation (ISHLT), and the Extracorporeal Life Support Organisation (ELSO), he is known for his technical precision, commitment to innovation, and compassionate care.
