Dr. N. Sekar

Dr. N. Sekar is a Senior Consultant in Vascular & Endovascular Surgery at Kauvery Hospital, Alwarpet, Chennai, with over 35 years of experience in vascular and endovascular surgery. His clinical practice encompasses peripheral arterial disease, diabetic foot and limb salvage, varicose veins, deep vein thrombosis, aneurysms, carotid disease, dialysis access, renal transplantation and vascular emergencies. He combines open surgical expertise with modern endovascular and minimally invasive techniques.

Dr. Sekar completed his MBBS at JIPMER, Pondicherry, MS in General Surgery at PGIMER, Chandigarh, and MCh in Vascular Surgery at Madras Medical College, Chennai. He was the first surgeon in India to obtain the MCh qualification in Vascular Surgery. He subsequently underwent advanced fellowship training at the Mayo Clinic, USA, and an Endovascular Fellowship at Royal Perth Hospital, Australia. His professional qualifications also include MNAMS, FICS, FRCS (Glasgow) and DSc (Honoris Causa) from The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University.

A major milestone in his career was being the first vascular surgeon to start endovascular surgery in Tamil Nadu. He has extensive experience in diabetic limb salvage and has performed one of the highest numbers of limb-salvage procedures for diabetic patients in the country, as stated in the profile. His expertise includes angioplasty and stenting, bypass surgery, aneurysm repair, carotid interventions, venous procedures, dialysis access surgery and renal transplantation.
