Dr. S. Sakthi Selvakumar is a Consultant Interventional Nephrologist and Renal Transplant Physician at Kauvery Hospital, Trichy – Cantonment and Tennur.

He is a Fellow of the American Society of Nephrology (FASN), a Fellow of GlomCon, and a Member of the National Academy of Medical Sciences (MNAMS).

With over five years of dedicated transplant practice, Dr. Selvakumar has been involved in more than 260 renal transplants spanning live-donor, deceased-donor, ABO-incompatible, HLA-incompatible (desensitisation), high-PRA, paired-exchange (swap), dual-kidney, and high-risk recipient pathways. His work includes the first HIV-positive renal transplant in Delta Tamil Nadu, HCV NAT-positive donor transplantation under the HOPE protocol, HBsAg-positive to HBsAg-negative transplants, and paediatric transplantation.

His interventional and dialysis practice covers AVF creation, ultrasound vessel mapping and Doppler access surveillance, tunneled haemodialysis catheter insertion, native and allograft kidney biopsy, CAPD catheter insertion (mini-laparotomy technique), and CRRT program operations.

He developed the ISOT SWAP software, a web-based paired-exchange matching platform for kidney and liver swap transplantation, and received the TANKER Young Investigator Award at ISOT 2024 for his work on swap transplantation algorithms. He has been appointed by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, as a member of the National SWAP Transplantation Expert Committee — constituted under NOTTO to draft the National SWAP Transplantation Guidelines — being one of only five private-sector experts selected nationally for the committee.
