Right Inguinal Hernia With Sigmoid Colon Content: An Embryological Twist

Introduction:

Persistent descending mesocolon (PDM) is a rare congenital anomaly resulting from the failure of the mesocolon to fuse with the posterior parietal peritoneum during embryonic development. This leads to increased mobility of the descending colon, predisposing to atypical positioning, volvulus, or internal and external herniation. While PDM itself is often asymptomatic and incidentally discovered, its clinical significance arises when it contributes to complications such as bowel obstruction or herniation.

PIERRE ROBIN SEQUENCE (ANAESTHESIA CONSIDERATIONS)

CASE REPORT:

A 11 months old male baby who is a known case of Pierre Robin Syndrome (sequence) underwent Supraglottoplasty with glossopexy (Tongue lip adhesion)at 50 days of life for persistent respiratory distress as he had posterior fallback of tongue with supraglottic inspiratory collapse (Type II laryngomalacia). ANAESTHESIA FOR A HUGE MULTINODULAR GOITER

A 76 years old male was scheduled to undergo total thyroidectomy for a huge multinodular goiter.

Patient presented with a huge swelling in front of the neck, which increased in size gradually over the years
Compression symptoms were present – patient had difficulty in breathing in lying flat, was comfortable in left lateral position and hoarseness of voice was present
