India is the diabetic capital of the world and we have about 70 million diabetics. The incidence of Peripheral Vascular Diseases in diabetic is between 7 to 14 %. Indian population is also aging. Average life expectancy has nearly reached 70 years. All this has contributed to an increase in the incidence of vascular diseases.

Kauvery hospital is a tertiary care hospital for treating vascular diseases and is offering both open and endovascular treatment for entire gamut of vascular diseases.

The National Board of Examination (NBE) which has been running DrNB Vascular surgery program has recognized the vascular surgery department at Kauvery Hospital, Chennai as a center of excellence and has selected it to run a super speciality training course. Kauvery hospital, Chennai is the first private Healthcare in Tamil Nadu to be recognized by the NBE to conduct the DrNB program in Vascular Surgery. The program is headed by Prof. Dr. N. Sekar, a doyen in the field of vascular surgery.

He was the first person in India to be awarded an MCh in Vascular Surgery and the first vascular surgeon to start endovascular surgeries in Tamilnadu. He has been the president of the vascular society and has been one of the main persons behind shaping of vascular specialty in India.

DrNB Vascular surgery super speciality program in Kauvery is one of most sought-after programs, enrolling two Postgraduates per year.

Our postgraduates have won gold medal for the best paper presentation in RCSEd Chennai International Conference 2022 and award for best paper in the National Vascular conference in 2022. A Number of publications and original researches have been done by our department.
