A quintessential part of Indian cuisine, turmeric’s anti-inflammatory properties are beneficial for those who have arthritis by helping them with pain relief.
Turmeric golden milk can be quickly made and is the perfect hot drink to start, or end, the day. It is a comforting drink made with milk, turmeric and warm spices.
Milk: 1 cup
Fresh turmeric root grated/powdered– 2tsp
Cinnamon stick -1
Green cardamom pod -1
Star anise -1
Black peppercorns crushed –2tsp
Takefresh turmeric and peel the skin. Grate and keep aside.
Heat milk in a pan on medium heat. After a minute or two (when the milk is a little lukewarm) add cinnamon, cardamom, star anise, turmeric and crushed pepper.
Whisk it all together and bring to a low simmer for 5 minutes. The milk need not boil but it should be nicely hot throughout.
Remove from heat and serve hot.
