Kauvery Hospital Trichy Observes World Kidney Day with Health Camp and Awareness Programs

World Kidney Day is observed every year on the second Thursday of March by the International Society of Nephrology to raise awareness about kidney diseases and their prevention.

Kidney disease is rising at an alarming rate, with diabetes and high blood pressure being the primary causes. Individuals with a family history of kidney disease, those diagnosed with diabetes or hypertension, and obese individuals are advised to undergo annual kidney screenings for early detection and prevention.

Each year, approximately 2.5 lakh new cases of End-Stage Renal Disease are reported in India. However, only 10% of these patients receive dialysis or kidney transplants, primarily due to fear and lack of awareness. It is crucial to educate the public on the importance of timely intervention and treatment options.

At Kauvery Hospital, Trichy, the Urology Department, comprising expert teams in Urology Medicine and Surgery, has been delivering advanced kidney care. The hospital conducts over 2,000 dialysis sessions per month, performs 100+ kidney transplants annually, and successfully handles a significant number of kidney stone removal procedures and prostate surgeries.

To mark World Kidney Day, Kauvery Hospital is organizing a Kidney Health Camp along with various public awareness programs with a Mascot RENO to educate people about kidney care ,its prevention, and available treatment options.
