Kauvery Hospital Tirunelveli Equips Tamil Nadu Police with Life-Saving BLS & First Aid Skills, Highlighting Importance of Emergency Preparedness Ahead of World Emergency Medicine Day 2025
TIRUNELVELI, Tamil Nadu – [May 28, 2024] – Kauvery Hospital, Tirunelveli, successfully conducted a comprehensive Basic Life Support (BLS), CPR, and First Aid training program for 70 Police Officers from the AR Line, Tamil Nadu Police. This vital initiative was held at Kauvery Hospital, Tirunelveli, underscoring the importance of emergency preparedness as the global community looks towards World Emergency Medicine Day on May 27, 2025. Mr. K. Petchimuthu, Inspector of Police (AR Line), Palayamkottai, Tirunelveli, graced the program as a special guest, further emphasizing the significance of this training for the police force.
The primary objective of this training was to enhance awareness regarding accident prevention and to equip the Police Officers with crucial skills to respond effectively during emergency situations, particularly in the critical moments before professional medical help arrives. Police officers are often the first responders to accidents and medical emergencies, and this training empowers them to provide immediate, life-sustaining care.
The training was expertly delivered by Dr. Arpana Singh, Consultant in Emergency Medicine at Kauvery Hospital, Tirunelveli. Participants engaged in hands-on demonstrations and learned essential techniques for managing common emergencies, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), bleeding control, and initial trauma care.
