Masoor dal dosa (or red lentil dosa) is a highly nutritious, protein-packed, and low-carb alternative to traditional rice-based dosas. It is particularly popular for weight management and is a quick, healthy, no-fermentation breakfast!

Masoor Dal Dosa

Ingredients

  • Masoor dal (split orange lentils): 1 cup
  • Yellow moong dal (split): 1/2 to 1 cup
  • Ginger: 1-inch piece
  • Green chillies: 2-3 (adjust to taste)
  • Cumin seeds (jeera): 1 tsp
  • Carrots, peeled and chopped: 2 (medium-sized)
  • Salt according to individual taste
  • Water as needed to grind into a smooth batter
  • Oil or ghee as required

Method

  • Wash both dals thoroughly and soak them together for at least 1-2 hours.
  • Drain and grind the dals with ginger, chillies, cumin and carrots into a smooth, thick batter.
  • The batter should be of a spreading consistency. It need not be left to ferment.
  • Add salt, mix well, and make dosa.
  • Protein-rich, tasty dosas are ready to serve.
