Aval kozhukattai is a delicious sweet poha kozhukattai made with poha, jaggery and cardamom. By adding poha to this sweet dish, we profit from poha’s numerous health benefits. This is a simple & quick recipe that can be enjoyed by adults and children alike.
Red poha (aval) – 1 cup
Jaggery – ½ cup
Water – 1¼ cup
Freshly grated coconut – ¼ cup
Cardamom powder – 1 tsp
Ghee – 2 tsp
Grind the aval along with cardamom into a coarse powder.
Heat jaggery in a kadai with water.
Wait till the jaggery melts and the mixture starts to boil. Add ghee.
To this, add the coarse powder of aval and cardamom.
Keep stirring till the mixture thickens.
Now add the coconut and mix once again.
Transfer to a bowl and allow the mixture to cool.
Once cooled, make small balls and steam them for 7-8 minutes.
