Welcome to the July edition of Kauvery Health and Wellness Newsletter.

The month of June saw Kauvery Hospital conducting two academic and practical training courses for surgeons. The minimally invasive surgery for the spine significantly improves the pain relief for patients with neck and backache. But, the technique is complex and has a steep learning curve for surgeons. At Kauvery Spine Centre, we are pioneering this advanced technique and the 1st live Kauvery – Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery (K-MISS) course was designed to increase the awareness among spine surgeons about the techniques in minimally invasive spine surgeries. Five live surgeries were performed during the course with interactive audio visual sessions, which was watched by more than 50 delegates from all over India. We also conducted a training for surgeons who are preparing for the MRCS exam of UK Royal College of Surgeons. We had a 15 member faculty for the course with five surgeons from UK and ten surgeons from Kauvery who were trained in UK.

We welcome Dr.S.Manoj MD, DM who has joined our Cardiology department as Senior Consultant & Interventional Cardiologist. He has performed more than 14,400 invasive cardiac diagnostic and therapeutic interventional procedures.

Kauvery Hospital is offering Paramedical courses free for the underprivileged children who are not able to pursue their studies for want of financial support. The course is run in partnership with Corporation of Chennai and Rotary Club of Madras East with the approval of Indian Medical Association.

Kauvery Hospital is one of the very few hospitals in the country performing complex cardiac surgery for children with birth defects of the heart. Many of these children are from very poor families and Shine@Kauvery is an initiative to support the economically backward parents seeking funds to treat their children. The fund generated through the donations from people and charitable organizations will directly benefit these children to grow into healthy adults, who will in turn make a difference to society.
