Welcome to the August edition of Kauvery Health and Wellness Newsletter.
I would like to share the gratifying story of the 10 year old boy Jayasuriya from Tirunelveli who was admitted to Kauvery Hospital with chest pain and breathlessness. He was assessed by Dr Premsekar and Dr Karthik Surya, our children’s heart specialists. He was found to have a very rare heart condition with balloon like enlargement of main blood vessel from the heart. He underwent complex surgical treatment called David’s procedure, which was performed for the first time in a child in India. The surgery was done by Dr Prasanth Shah and team successfully and the boy returned to his native town completely free from symptoms, a week after the surgery. The boy is from a very poor family and the surgery was done totally free of cost under the Government Insurance Scheme and by liberal contribution from Kauvery’s SHINE Trust.
Our Chief Nephrologist Dr R Balasubramaniyam conducted a quiz programme for postgraduate medical trainees. It was attended by more than 100 doctors from all the city medical colleges.
C-KRACK (Chennai Kauvery Regional Anaesthesia Course), a CME program was conducted by Chennai Kauvery Hospital’s Department of Anaesthesia & Pain Management. This CME program covered all the major aspects of regional anaesthesia vide expert lectures and detailed video sessions. Specialists from across the country joined during the occasion to give practical demonstration and the meeting was attended by more than 250 delegates.
With 5 academic activities by our specialists in the last six weeks, Kauvery Hospital is clearly emerging as a leader in continuing medical education in pursuit of medical academic excellence.
