Dear Readers,

Another informative edition of K-Way welcomes you all on the morning of 1st July.

Happy Doctors Day!

Doctors are the pillars of our healthcare system, working selflessly to diagnose, treat, and comfort their patients. From emergency room doctors to specialists, general practitioners to surgeons, each and every one of their services plays a vital role in keeping the patient safe.

On this day, I would like to recall one of the most significant contributions to mankind by a doctor. Yes, I am talking about Dr Jonas Salk who invented the transformative polio vaccine. The 1940s saw the emergence of polio as a crippling disease which struck fear in the hearts of adults and children alike. Working tirelessly, Dr Salk invented the polio vaccine which he first tested on himself and his family to ensure its safety. In doing so, he became a role model for selfless service, inspiring doctors all over the world.

As humans we are really blessed to serve mankind and we all need to realise two of the best blessings in our lives.

One – our birth, a life to live and the opportunity to wake up healthy every day. And the next is the rebirth given by doctors when one is very sick.

A doctor not only takes care of our health, but takes complete responsibility and accountability for his service. Can we imagine surviving in a world without doctors? Never! With the millions of bacteria and viruses waiting to engulf our cells, what would happen to a world without doctors!

Similar to the way our soldiers protect our nation’s borders, doctors protect the patients in the society.

In the last few years after the pandemic, we have witnessed an increase in the number of youngsters wanting to become doctors – this is really heartwarming.

Medicine is a field which always needs constant learning and selfless service – our senior professors have indeed been great role models for us.

While continuing to serve the community, doctors need to prioritise their health too. As doctors, we always advice on proper food, exercise and sleep as the most important lifestyle changes, but most of the time doctors are unable to follow this.

While seeing patients, the thought of food or sleep is never a priority.

Doctors too are humans, but at times, they become superhumans with no regard for their health. But this can affect their physical and mental health in the long run. Hence, we request all doctors worldwide to take charge of their health which is of utmost importance.

Yearly health screenings are mandatory as doctors most of the time neglect their health. Each one of you is precious to us and we at Kauvery take this opportunity to wish all the lovely doctors a very happy doctors’ day.

At this moment, we also pray for the people who lost their lives in the unfortunate air crash which also had a few doctors on board. Let’s remember their selfless service and extend our prayers to their families.

We also think of the young medical students in Ahmedabad who lost their lives in the lunch hall during the air crash. We pray for their families at this moment and we will keep them close to our hearts always. These doctors were pillars of support to our community, and their loss is a profound one for our nation.

Life, while being challenging, is truly a blessing.

Being mindful and grateful will make it more worthwhile.

Have a wonderful month ahead.

I would love to know what you think about our monthly newsletter. Feel free to give your feedback via email [email protected].

Hello Kauverians, and welcome to Jubilant July!

Hello Kauverians! Welcome to Nurturing November
By Uma & Vishnu

As we step into a new month, we carry forward the energy, inspiration, and achievements of a truly impactful June. At Kauvery, every month is a reflection of our commitment to not only care for patients but to grow stronger as a community of healthcare professionals. June was no exception, it was a month of action, awareness, and advancement. We began by celebrating World Environment Day, reinforcing our ongoing mission to be a green and responsible healthcare institution. Through awareness campaigns and sustainable initiatives, we renewed our pledge to protect the environment while we heal people. Mid-month, we came together to observe World Blood Donor Day, a reminder of the powerful, life-saving gift that comes from one simple act of kindness. The enthusiasm and participation from our teams and donors reflected the deep compassion that runs through the heart of Kauvery.

But perhaps most significant in June were the robust training programs designed to strengthen our team’s knowledge, safety, and preparedness. Across departments, staff actively engaged in vital sessions on workplace violence prevention, equipping themselves with the tools to create a secure and respectful environment for both caregivers and patients. Our disaster management drills reminded us of the importance of coordination and readiness, ensuring that in times of crisis, we respond with confidence and clarity. POSH training further reinforced our collective commitment to a workplace culture that is inclusive, safe, and respectful to all. Meanwhile, critical resuscitation training sessions helped clinical teams sharpen life-saving skills, reminding us that in healthcare, every second matters and every hand must be steady and skilled. These programs reflect our belief that continuous learning is essential to delivering excellence, and we applaud every participant who embraced these opportunities for growth.

Now, as we enter July, we do so with a deep sense of gratitude and pride. The month begins with National Doctors’ Day on July 1 st a special occasion to honour the heart of our healing
journey: our doctors. Their tireless service, medical expertise, and unwavering compassion are the pillars on which Kauvery stands. In every ward, consultation room, and surgical theatre, their commitment to patient well-being shines through. This month, we take time to express our appreciation, not just in words, but through the continued support, collaboration, and respect they so deeply deserve.

Looking ahead, July also brings renewed focus on innovation and well-being. We continue to explore new ways to enhance patient care through technology and teamwork, while also prioritizing the mental and emotional health of our staff. From wellness initiatives to knowledge-sharing platforms, we aim to build a workplace where every individual feels empowered, valued, and supported.

At Kauvery, progress is measured not just by metrics or milestones, but by the strength of our people and the depth of our empathy. Every smile shared, every life saved, every lesson learned brings us closer to our vision of holistic, patient-centred care. In the spirit of Jubilant July, let us continue to uplift one another, work as one, and lead with compassion in all we do.

Together, let’s keep the momentum going with pride in our past and purpose in our future.

What If Tomorrow Changes Everything?

ms sofia roseline
Ms Sofia Roseline,
Service Excellence

Dear readers, have you ever stopped and thought what if everything changes tomorrow? What if life suddenly takes a turn you never expected? In the hospital, we see this happen often. But
Sometimes, a single patient touches your heart in a way that stays with you forever. One such encounter left a big impact in my life.

He was just 26 years old, lying on a hospital bed with a peaceful smile. I still remember how warm and kind his smile was, even though he was not well. Standing beside him was his mother,
her eyes filled with fear and sadness. It was clear she was worried about her son, and my heart went out to her.

I didn't know yet how special this young man was. He had recently returned to India after studying abroad. Full of dreams and energy, he had come only for a health checkup. He felt a bit of stiffness and nausea and nothing too serious. But life had other plans.

After few investigation he was diagnosed with neurofibromatosis, a rare condition that causes tumors grow on nerves in the body. His world changed in an instant. He had to go through a
surgery, and then he was moved to the Intensive Care Unit for close monitoring.

In the ICU, I saw the real strength of his family. His father was his biggest support, giving hope to his wife, being the backbone of the family. Even in his weakest moments, this young man was
filled with kindness. When he got shifted to ward I felt connected to him as we both loved watching sports, and we often spoke about the games on TV.

But what moved me the most was how he treated his mother. Whenever she looked sad or tired, he would make a funny face to cheer her up. It was so beautiful to see a son comforting his
mother while fighting his own battle.

Day by day, he started to improve. It wasn’t easy. There were ups and downs, days of fear and pain. But he fought through it with courage, patience, and support from his family and the ICU
team. After about a month in the hospital, he was finally ready to go home. He personally thanked everyone like we were part of his family. It was one of the most heart touching moments
to witness.

Dear readers, Life is so unpredictable. Health is precious and family is everything. We never know what tomorrow holds. But we can choose how we face it: kindness, love, and courage. Just
like that 26-year-old young man. Let’s not wait for life to shake us to be grateful. Let us cherish our health, our family, and the simple joys today.
