Dear Ardent Readers,

Wishing a Happy May Day to all the hardworking labourers who are the true backbone of our society.

The K-Way team is always thankful for your valuable support.

This month of May is a month with many special days that we hold close to our hearts – among them are International Nurses Day and Mother’s Day.

Without a mother or a nurse, love can never be felt, shown or learnt. Love is a powerful emotion which when received by people, triggers a desire to return and share that love.

If I need to compare the care given by nurses and a mother’s love to something, I would compare them with the roots of a plant. In a plant, the root is the main part which reaches deep into the soil to find nutrition and water, and gives a firm grip to the plant, however big it grows. It penetrates the hard soil inside the dark ground. Its hardships make the plant grow into a tree that bears flowers or fruits.

The flowers gain the appreciation and the tree is talked about proudly, isn’t it? We admire the flower, but do we admire the roots? Of course, we plant it and water the roots but we don’t admire it.

But the roots do their duty.

Well, similar is the love and care of a mother or a nurse.

Mothers are the roots of a family; they create bonds within the family and make sure the family grows with happiness. They sacrifice and compromise their priorities for the family.

Similarly, the roots which make the healthcare industry strong, bridging the gap between patients and doctors, giving love and showing great empathy to patients, are our nurses. They undergo many hardships but never expect any appreciation in return. They only want to see their patients recover – indeed, our nurses are next to our mothers.

We need to focus on their health.

Be it a mother or a nurse who has cared for us, it is our duty to take care of them.

We cannot imagine a home without a mother, nor a hospital without a nurse.

They need to be supported by their family members in their daily activities. We need to understand their priorities and respect their time. We need to take them for annual health screenings and make sure their mental and physical health are equally good.

Mothers nurse their families.

Nurses become a mother to their patients.

Therefore, this month is very special.

On behalf of Kauvery Hospital, we wish you all a very happy International Nurses Day and a very happy Mother’s Day.

Have a great month ahead!

I would love to know what you think about our monthly newsletter. Feel free to give your feedback via email [email protected].

Highlights @ Kauvery

Hello Kauverians! Welcome to Meaningful May!

Hello Kauverians! Welcome to Nurturing November
By Uma & Vishnu

As the vibrant days of summer unfold, we step into May with renewed energy and purpose. This month is a time for reflection, appreciation, and action as we continue our journey of health, compassion, and community at Kauvery.

April was a month of engagement and empowerment. Our World Health Day celebrations were a testament to our collective commitment to well-being, with health screenings, wellness talks, and mindfulness workshops that reached hearts and inspired change. We saw great participation from staff, patients, and families, all prioritizing health in its many forms—physical, mental, and emotional.

A major highlight last month was the launch of Chennai’s first O-Arm and Navigation system at Kauvery. This advanced technology enhances surgical precision, particularly in spine and neuro procedures, ensuring greater accuracy, improved safety, and faster recovery—reflecting our commitment to bringing the best in global healthcare to our community.

As we look ahead, May brings several opportunities to recognize the heart of healthcare – our nurses. We begin this month of meaning with International Nurses Day on May 12th, a day to honor the heart and soul of healthcare: our nurses. At Kauvery, our nurses are more than just caregivers, they are the compassionate force that keeps us going, day and night. Their strength, dedication, and unwavering empathy define the patient experience and reflect the very essence of who we are. To truly celebrate their invaluable contribution, we are dedicating an entire week to them with thoughtfully planned events, heartfelt tributes, and moments of joy and recognition. From gratitude ceremonies and wellness activities to opportunities for reflection and fun, this week is our way of saying: thank you. Thank you for your tireless service, your healing touch, and the countless ways you make a difference—often quietly, always powerfully. You are the heartbeat of Kauvery, and this celebration is just a small token of the deep appreciation we hold for each and every one of you.

May also marks Mental Health Awareness Month, reminding us that mental well-being is just as important as physical health. This month, we will host workshops focused on destigmatizing mental health, fostering open conversations, and providing tools for emotional resilience. Let’s come together to create a culture where kindness, empathy, and support guide our every interaction.

As we enter the second quarter, it’s the perfect time to reflect on our goals and strengthen the bonds that make us a united Kauvery family. Through team-building, cross-functional learning, and idea-sharing, May will focus on deepening our connections and supporting one another. At Kauvery, every person who walks through our doors is family, and every act of care matters. Let’s continue listening, supporting, and striving for true healing through empathy, kindness, and excellence. Together, we can shape a healthier, more compassionate world, one meaningful moment at a time.

A Journey from Silence to Strength: A Story of Hope and Healing

Dayana Briskilla
Ms Dayana Briskilla,
Service Excellence

Dear Readers,

I’m truly amazed to share with you an inspiring story of strength, resilience, and hope, a real-life battle fought and won by one of our patients who recently recovered from a devastating trauma.

As someone who loves meeting people and hearing their journeys, one encounter deeply moved me. It was a 54-year-old man, a dedicated traveler who drove heavy vehicles across Tamil Nadu as part of his job. Little did I know, one tragic day, he left home for work and never returned the same. His wife received a heartbreaking call that he had met with a serious accident. The very legs that tirelessly supported his family and the hands that once confidently steered his vehicle were now motionless and silent.

He wasn’t brought to Kauvery hospital initially. His first stop was a different hospital, but the results there didn’t go in their favour. With renewed hope, his family brought him here, and from the moment he arrived, he was given immediate and comprehensive care.

But his recovery wasn’t easy. It was a long, painful journey that stretched over weeks. Through every step of this battle, his wife remained his pillar of strength. Even when he couldn’t move his hands or speak a single word, she never lost hope. She believed he would come back and he did. With physiotherapy and speech therapy, he slowly began to improve. And then came the moment we all waited for, when he finally spoke his wife’s name. Tears rolled down her face. It was nothing short of a miracle. Witnessing such determination and love reminded us all why we do what we do.

The family expressed their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who had been a part of his remarkable recovery. They were truly overwhelmed by the dedication and care shown by the nursing team, who stood by him every moment, providing the immense attention he needed. They also deeply thanked the doctors the true backbone of his journey whose expertise, quick decisions, and constant encouragement helped turn his condition around. Their words of appreciation were a testament to how teamwork, compassion, and hope can create miracles.

This journey reminds us that healing is not just physical. It’s emotional and deeply human. In a world where uncertainty can strike in a moment, it is love, faith and resilience that hold us together. It’s in the quiet strength of a wife who never gave up, in the hands of caregivers who work tirelessly, and in the will of a man who fought silently from within.

Every small step forward was a victory. Every tear, a release. Every smile, a milestone.

No matter how dark the night, the dawn always comes. When you stand firm in love and hope, even the deepest wounds can begin to heal, not just in the body but in the soul.
