Our dear K-Way family members,
November is indeed a month to remind us of the importance of gratitude and appreciation.
Thanksgiving serves as a powerful reminder to reflect on our blessings and acknowledge the good things we are blessed in life.
Yes, even reading K-Way this morning with a sip of coffee is a blessing.
We, the K-Way team, thank our Executive Director Dr Aravindan Selvaraj for his vision of creating a digital awareness platform for all our patients to get medical awareness updates throughout the year.
We also thank our ardent readers and the K-Way team for their immense support.
Now coming to us!
We all love our family and friends, but the recent trend is to show love through emojis 🥰 rather than through a real emotional connect, isn’t it?
Do we appreciate ourselves?
We seldom do.
Time is always spent brooding WHY am I like this?
WHY can’t I have done that!
WHY is my face like this !WHY am I not slim!
Most of the time is spent in front of the mirror asking questions.
On the other hand, most of the times, we are caught up with routine work and may neglect to balance work, family, and friends. Our absence is too much felt which we fail to understand .
The month November reminds us to be thankful, grateful, and creates a day of Thanksgiving to gather together.
We should thank all those who make a positive impact and appreciate all relationships. We should nurture our connections with loved ones while prioritizing ourselves without being egotistical.
By incorporating gratitude into our daily lives, we can cultivate a more positive and resilient mindset.
Would you like to know how to express gratitude throughout the year?
There are many ways to express gratitude.
Three Easy Ways
– Verbal affirmations – say “thank you” sincerely
– Express appreciation to loved ones
– Acknowledge others’ efforts
Some Actions to Show Gratitude
– Small gifts or tokens of appreciation
– Helping others
– Spending quality time with loved ones are all small actions with a big impact
Mindfulness
– Reflect on daily blessings
– Practice meditation or prayer
– Focus on the present moment
Our Culture and Traditions
– Sharing gratitude around the dinner table is a great way
– Create gratitude jars and ask kids to write and fill the jars adds excitement to the memories
– Celebrate milestones and achievements with family and friends
Encourage elders, family members and children to talk about their memories. Sharing experiences will help them relive moments of happiness and make them feel wanted.
We are all living in a period where emotional quotient is slowly fading. Days like Thanksgiving allow us to celebrate our lives and ourselves.
Most importantly, we need to thank every cell in our body for working tirelessly.
We should show some gratitude towards our body for the wear and tear it handles, and the physical and mental stress it manages.
A balanced diet, regular physical activity, good hydration, sound sleep, work-life balance with time management, regular timely vaccinations and micro break vacations are the gifts we need to give ourselves.
November is here what are you all waiting for?
Time doesn’t wait for anyone.
Convey your gratitude.
This is KWAY Team thanking you all.
See you soon in our next edition – the December 2025 year-end edition.
See I just said time flies.
Be fast, act fast.
Thank you all.
Have a wonderful month ahead.
I would love to know what you think about our monthly newsletter. Feel free to give your feedback via email [email protected].

Highlights @ Kauvery
Hello Kauverians!
Welcome to Nurturing November!
October was a month that truly reflected the spirit of Kauvery, a beautiful blend of celebration, learning, and togetherness. We began with the vibrant festivities of Ayudha Pooja, where our creative Golu displays celebrated tradition, artistry, and teamwork. The joy continued with Diwali, a festival that illuminated not just our surroundings, but our hearts. The cultural celebrations, music, and laughter reminded us that the true essence of Diwali lies in spreading light, the same light we bring into the lives of our patients each day. Just as the diyas brighten our homes, our care, compassion, and healing touch light up the faces of our patients and their families, filling their lives with hope and comfort.

October was also marked by World Infection Control Week, a celebration of our unwavering commitment to patient safety and quality care. Across departments, teams participated in a variety of events from Rangoli competitions, reels raising awareness, skit competitions, and debates by our consultants, to special lectures by senior consultants. Each activity showcased creativity, expertise, and collaboration, reinforcing that infection control is not just a protocol but a culture we nurture every day. It was inspiring to see how seriously we take our responsibility to protect patients, visitors, and colleagues, while making learning fun, engaging, and meaningful.
As we step into Nurturing November, we celebrate two occasions that perfectly align with our mission-World Diabetes Day and Thanksgiving.
World Diabetes Day reminds us of the importance of awareness, prevention, and patient education. This year, we will host special events and health camps to engage our patients and community, empowering them to take charge of their health and lead healthier, fuller lives.
Thanksgiving offers a special moment to pause and reflect with gratitude for every doctor, nurse, technician, administrator, and support staff whose dedication keeps Kauvery shining bright, and for every patient and family who place their trust in us. Your commitment, compassion, and faith are the reasons we continue to grow and excel. Each smile, each word of encouragement, and each life we touch is a reminder of the profound impact we make together.
Let’s continue to nurture gratitude, care, and compassion this November. From celebrating traditions to advancing patient safety and wellness, every effort reflects our commitment to touching lives and strengthening our Kauvery community.
Here’s to a month of compassion, gratitude, and Kauvery pride.
When Hope Found Its Voice Again

Service Excellence
It was a rainy morning, and the city was caught in a rush. I was navigating through the heavy traffic, eager to reach the hospital on time, unaware that the day ahead would touch my heart in ways I didn’t expect.
As I entered the hospital, my attention was drawn to a stretcher being hurriedly moved toward the Intensive Care Unit. On it lay a 35-year-old woman, just out of surgery. Right beside her stood a man trying to catch a glimpse of her before she disappeared behind the ICU doors.
Something about that moment made me pause. I approached him gently, hoping I could do something to help. As we began to talk, I learned his story, a story of love, fear, and unimaginable courage.
The woman had a head injury after a tragic road accident while returning home from work nearly 200 km away from Chennai. Her husband, made the brave decision to bring her to Kauvery Hospital from their small town with the help of her colleagues. He didn’t know where to go or what to do; all he knew was that he couldn’t lose her.
In the first few days, he seemed lost. The medical terms, the machines, the uncertainty everything overwhelmed him. He would stand outside the ICU, silently watching, praying, and hoping for a miracle. He told me she was once the heart of her workplace cheerful, talkative, and the kind of person who could make anyone smile. And now, seeing her speechless and motionless, he struggled to hold back his tears.
Days passed, and little signs of progress began to appear. Slowly, the woman showed improvement and was shifted from the ICU to the ward. Her recovery was far from easy. She couldn’t move on her own, couldn’t talk, and depended entirely on her husband for everything. He stayed by her side through every feeding, every wipe of her face, every sleepless night. His love and patience were his strength.
Weeks of expert medical care, combined with his unwavering support, started to show results. One morning, I walked into her room and was taken aback, she spoke to me. Her voice was filled with energy and gratitude, contrast to the silence I had first witnessed. That moment felt like witnessing hope come alive. On the day of her discharge, the happiness in their eyes said more than words ever could. They thanked every doctor, nurse, and staff member who stood by them in their toughest days.
Dear readers, head injuries can turn lives upside down in a moment but timely treatment, emotional support, and faith can bring people back to life. Always wear helmets, follow road safety measures, and never ignore a head injury, no matter how small it seems. This story reminds us that with love, care, and resilience even the quietest voices can find their strength again. That morning, which began in the rain, ended with sunshine.

Kauvery Hospital Performs World’s First Breakthrough Transcatheter Mitral Valve Replacement on Octogenarian – Innovative Transcatheter technique offers new hope for patients with severe Mitral valve calcification who have no safe treatment options.
In a historic achievement, Kauvery Hospital, Chennai, has successfully performed the world’s first transcatheter mitral valve replacement (TMVR) with an extended external wrap and atrialized implant through femoral vein (groin) access on an 83-year-old patient who had been considered “inoperable” by multiple cardiac surgeons.
The patient had multiple comorbidities and had recurrent hospital admissions due to heart failure caused by severe Mitral Valve dysfunction caused by severe Mitral Annular Calcification (MAC). As she had undergone radiotherapy to the chest twice in the past – first for cancer of the esophagus, and later following breast cancer surgery, any form of open-heart surgery or even minimally invasive surgical approaches was deemed too dangerous. Several cardiothoracic surgeons in India across major centers had declined surgery, leaving the patient without options.

It was a beautiful reminder that even in moments of healing, happiness can be created and shared.
KAUVERY – MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS DAY 2025
Kadhaipomaa! – Stories that Heal the Healers
In the demanding world of healthcare, many stories go untold — yet these stories have the power to heal the healers themselves. Embracing this idea, the Department of Behavioural Sciences, in collaboration with the Learning and Development Department, organized “Kadhaipomaa – Stories that Heal the Healers” for the nursing staff of Kauvery Hospital as part of the World Mental Health Day 2025 celebrations held on October 11, 2025.
The session began with an inspiring talk by Dr. Kavitha Sundaravadhanam, Senior Consultant, Family Physician, on the importance of mental well-being for caregivers. Moderated by psychologists Mrs. Tinu Thamby, Ms. Sneha Thiyagarajan, and Ms. Gayathri, the event welcomed around 20 nurses and 10 ward staff, creating a safe space for reflection and connection.
Engaging activities like Sit–Stand–In and Out and Kadhai Thodarum encouraged laughter, bonding, and creativity. The heart of the program, the Kadhaipomaa Circle, invited participants to share personal stories that celebrated compassion, courage, and pride in nursing.
One touching story recounted a nurse who stopped to help an accident victim despite being late for duty — a reminder that nursing is not just a profession but an act of humanity. Nearly 15 such heartfelt stories were shared, filling the room with warmth and gratitude.
The session concluded with appreciation from the nursing in-charge and reflections from the psychologists on the power of storytelling in fostering empathy, teamwork, and well-being. Participants described the experience as joyful, healing, and deeply motivating.
