Our dear passionate KWay readers,

A warm welcome to this month.

September is a month filled with international days of health awareness, cultural celebrations, and events promoting peace and patient safety.

The calendar is also packed with significant observances like Teachers’ Day and Navaratri.

September’s mix of awareness days and cultural events encourages community engagement and appreciation for various causes. Whether it’s promoting peace, ensuring safety in healthcare, or celebrating tourism, the month offers opportunities for individuals and communities to participate and make a difference.

As healthcare professionals, September holds special significance, as it includes some important awareness days close to our hearts.

One such day is Patient Safety Day. Here at Kauvery, our goal is to set the highest standards of patient safety. This is a constant and continuous process — progress with no compromise in the quality of patient care.

Another very important day is World Suicide Prevention Day.

Just as we give importance to patient care in the hospital, as individuals we should also give importance to self-care and safeguarding our mental health.

We take time to save money in the bank — money can be earned again. But mental health is more precious than any wealth. Sadly, many people today feel happy only through external validation or popularity, forgetting that true happiness lies in self-appreciation and self-care.

Self-care is not selfish — it is the foundation of a selfless personality with strong self-validation.

One must understand the dynamics of life: first, love your life and yourself. Thank the organs that work tirelessly despite the way we abuse them with fast food, alcohol, smoking, sleeplessness, and poor nutrition.

Care starts from within. No doubt life can be challenging and sometimes feel unfair, but remember — nothing is truly the end of the world.

You are there for yourself.

It is common to feel that life turns dark when unexpected challenges arise. But remember — for nine months, every foetus lives in complete darkness, and finally plunges into the bright world after pushing itself through the narrow cervical canal of the mother. That is the most challenging task for a baby — yet they do it without any training.

So, there is no doubt that every foetus is born with courage.

It is the growing years that decide whether this courage stays or fades. Being naïve is not wrong, but never succumb to cowardice.

Children should be taught to face life with resilience.

Here are some tips to help build self-confidence:

• Positive self-talk: Focus on affirmations and positive thoughts about yourself.

• Set achievable goals: Break bigger goals into smaller, manageable ones to build momentum.

• Step out of your comfort zone: Gradually take on new challenges to build belief in your abilities.

• Prepare and practice: Being prepared for situations boosts confidence.

• Focus on strengths: Highlight your skills and accomplishments.

Building Confidence Over Time

• Self-awareness: Understand your thoughts and feelings about yourself.

• Support system: Surround yourself with encouraging, supportive people.

Confidence grows when we prime ourselves. While it’s good to accept ourselves as we are, upgrading our skills and knowledge makes us even stronger.

Training in public speaking is essential — start with small groups and progress to larger audiences.

Workplace confidence: Take on new projects or responsibilities to showcase your skills.

Social confidence: Engage in conversations with new people or join groups with shared interests.

Practical Steps:

• Start small — begin with low-stakes situations.

• Celebrate successes — acknowledge even the smallest achievements.

Failures Are Normal

Failures are part of growth, learning, and success. Many valuable lessons come from them.

• Resilience: Dealing with failures builds strength and determination.

• Growth mindset: Viewing failures as opportunities fosters personal growth.

• Opportunities to improve: Failures reveal areas for improvement.

A simple example is that a baby never starts walking immediately.

First comes the phase of crawling, then walking with repeated support and inevitable falls — the very first steps in a baby’s life.

Only then does independent walking begin.

Just because babies crawl and fall, it doesn’t mean they can’t try walking.

Similarly, babies with limb defects learn to walk with the help of prosthetics — don’t they?

We need to learn from such small beginnings to understand the dynamics of life.

There are fixed milestones to monitor a child’s growth, but each child is different.

One may start walking or talking early, while another may take longer.

Both are perfectly fine.

Setting standards is not wrong, but slow progress or repeated failures should never stop you from reaching your happiness.

Never give up on yourself.

Thus, September has more reasons to celebrate.

Hello Kauverians! Welcome to Spectacular September!

Hello Kauverians! Welcome to Amazing August!
By Uma & Vishnu

As we bid farewell to Amazing August, we carry forward the energy, excellence, and empathy that defined a truly impactful month. August was a time of resilience and reflection, where we embraced both national pride and personal purpose.

We began the month by celebrating Independence Day, not just with flags and festivities, but by reaffirming our commitment to the values of freedom, dignity, and self-determination in healthcare. Across departments, we saw creative expressions of patriotism and heartfelt participation that reminded us of the strength in our unity.

We also came together to celebrate Vinayaka Chaturthi on August 27th with great enthusiasm and devotion. The festivities brought a sense of spiritual togetherness and cultural vibrancy to our hospital. From the beautifully adorned idols to the collective prayers and eco-friendly celebrations, the occasion reminded us of the importance of wisdom, new beginnings, and shared joy within our Kauvery family.

Throughout August, preparations for JCIA accreditation reached new heights at Kauvery Alwarpet. It was inspiring to witness every team member step up with focus and dedication, refining protocols, conducting rigorous mock drills, strengthening documentation, and reinforcing our commitment to patient safety and clinical excellence. The JCIA journey is not just a checklist; it is a reflection of who we are and the standards we live by every day.

We also marked World Organ Donation Day, raising awareness on the power of giving life through knowledge-sharing sessions and community engagement. From wellness activities to training initiatives, August truly showcased the depth and diversity of our efforts.

Now, September begins a month of precision, performance, and pride. This is a crucial phase in our JCIA journey, as the accreditation visit draws near. Let us enter this month with calm confidence, knowing that our systems are strong, our teams are prepared, and our values are clear. September also brings opportunities for professional growth and recognition. We look forward to several training programs, wellness initiatives, and quality improvement drives that will help us continue our culture of excellence. It is also a time to celebrate the spirit of teamwork and the power of small actions that lead to great outcomes.

Let us make Spectacular September a celebration of our hard work, our heart, and our shared vision. Every effort matters, every detail counts, and together, we are building a legacy of care that is compassionate, consistent, and truly world-class.

Here is to a September filled with purpose, passion, and progress. Let us keep moving forward together.

A Journey of Strength, Hope, and Kindness

It was a hush-hush morning. The city roads were choked with traffic, and like every other day, I rushed through the chaos to begin my rounds at the hospital. I thought it would be just another ordinary day. Little did I know that I was about to meet a family whose story would leave a lasting imprint on my heart.

As I walked into the ward, I was welcomed with the warmest smiles. A young man, only 33 years old, lay on the bed, his wife by his side. There was a gentleness in the way they greeted me a grace that stood out even in the midst of uncertainty. What I didn’t realize then was the depth of the battle they were quietly fighting.

The patient had been admitted to another hospital weeks earlier with nothing more than a fever. But what seemed like a routine illness soon became alarming. His white blood cell and platelet counts began to plummet. Despite undergoing several investigations and procedures, his condition worsened, leaving him exhausted and disheartened. At one point, he felt there was no way forward.

Yet, his wife never let go of hope. Though she didn’t have all the answers, she believed there must be a place, a treatment, a doctor who could help. Guided by that faith, she made the bold decision to bring him to Kauvery Hospital, trusting in the care and expertise she had heard about. It was here that the truth emerged, he was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML).
The news could have broken them, but instead, it revealed their true strength. Even as he underwent the demanding cycles of treatment, this young man carried himself with remarkable grace. Every time I visited him during rounds, I was met with a smile not one of pretense, but of genuine warmth and gratitude. He showed kindness to everyone who entered his room, from doctors to nurses to housekeeping staff.

That smile became my teacher. It taught me that kindness is not something we offer when life is comfortable it is a strength we choose even when life tests us the hardest.

His wife’s unwavering support and quiet determination became a pillar of strength. Together, their love created a kind of healing that no medicine alone could provide. Day after day, cycle after cycle, he fought with courage. And slowly, the reports began to show progress. Hope started to replace fear. Strength replaced despair. Until finally, the day arrived the family was ready to go home. More than words, their gratitude shone through their eyes, their smiles, and the love they carried as they stepped out stronger than ever.

Even now, I can still see his smile. A smile that triumphed over fear. A smile that reminds me every single day that with courage, confidence, love, and hope, even the toughest battles can be won. At Kauvery Hospital, we believe that every story of healing is a story of hope and it is our privilege to walk alongside our patients and their families in their journey towards recovery.
