Diagnosis: Large carcinoid tumor obstructing the right lower lobe bronchus.
Patient's Story
At one look it was obvious that this teenager was hypothyroid, and her file confirmed it. Investigation of a right-sided collapse-consolidation led to the diagnosis of a large carcinoid tumor obstructing the right lower lobe bronchus. She is due for surgery. We have formed a team of two to handhold her through the experience and help her to author her “personal narrative” on the experience that we shall publish.
Outcome
We have encouraged her to work towards “Cracking the NEET” and enter medical school. Hopefully she will become a doctor and later, a thoracic surgeon.
