As we approach World Health Day on April 7th, I invite you to contemplate the intriguing concept of “Fone Health”. The World Health Organization defines health as a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being, extending beyond the mere absence of disease.
As a family physician, I am compelled to draw parallels between our lives and our smartphones, those ubiquitous companions that have revolutionized the way we live, work, and interact. While they have brought unprecedented convenience and connectivity, they also pose risks to our mental and physical health, particularly when we compare our lives to the curated highlight reels of others. Watching other lives on phone reels mostly leads to feelings of inadequacy, dissatisfaction, and irritability, often accompanied by a creeping sense of inadequacy and anxiety. [Read full message]
