Dear Colleagues,

Remembering a great anaesthesiologist and a teacher par excellence!

I met her only once, when she accompanied her husband, Dr. Vidyasagaran, to Trichy, where he was to inaugurate a major initiative in Vascular Surgery.

But long before that we had become friends and associates, as we both shared a passion of caring for patients and keeping them safe, and for teaching and training the next generation of healers.

She was the inaugural lecturer at the Kauvery Post Graduate Lectures.

We proudly serialized her immortal classic’ Learning from Experience’.

Today, on the World Anaesthesia Day. I reiterate: Every Kauvery Post Graduare in Anaesthesiology should read the book, savour the book, digest the book and reflect on it.

It is the crystallization of a life time of experience and excellence in the profession and an extraordinary commitment to imparting education.

The book is also a sterling model of the art and science of elegant, enthralling and inspiring medical writing that very few master in a life time.

We dedicate this Special Edition on World Anaesthesia Day, carrying papers from Five major Kauvery Hospitals- Trichy Cantonment and Tennur, Heart City, Electronic City Bengaluru and Radial Road Chennai to her memory and greatness.

After calling her to the heaven, I expect God retired the model.

There shall never be another magnificent personality in our lives like Dr. Vasanthi Vidyasagaran.

May her kind, loving and forgiving soul rest in peace.

Her family also kindly join us in remembering her on this Day which was very momentous for her, as she dedicated her whole life in pursuit of excellence in that endeavour.
