Dr. Venkita S. Suresh

Group Medical Director, Kauvery Hospitals, India

Dear colleagues,

The KAUVERIAN ‘s sole mission is to showcase the sterling work that reflects the standards of our service to the sick and injured.

Our secret mission is to quietly stimulate potential authors to debut on our pages.

The International Day of Emergency Medicine dawns on 27 May.

The KAUVERIAN has unfailingly published a special edition on each occasion.

So, here we are, again on the march, and our talented band features ten debut authors.

We have 12 ERs at 12 Kauvery Hospitals.

We run MRCEM, MEM and DNB courses in Emergency Medicine.

Yet we have only 10 authors.

Does that reflect the “body of our work” at the ERs? Certainly not.

Why are we silent?

There is a huge reluctance to write about the ‘body of our work’.

But an occasional spark of inspiration and enthusiasm flashes a fledgeling ‘single case report’.

We at the KAUVERIAN try to protect, preserve, propagate and progress that flicker of a flame with the undying hope that one day the core of that tiny source of light and energy would burst forth as a bolt of lightning that sheds instant light on the inky darkness that  is the sickness that blights some lives.

The KAUVERIAN salutes our heroes who are fighting to save lives and limbs at the ER, always at the front lines.

We conclude this edition with a guest article: The Top 10 Diagnoses in ER, a course from the Innovations Department, to strengthen the hands of nurses, to lighten the clinical burden at our Emergency Departments.

Best regards

Kauvery Hospital
