Dr. Manivannan Selvaraj

Founder and Managing Director, Kauvery Group of Hospitals

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

I am delighted to pen this note on the occasion of World Anesthesia Day. As you all know, our hospital was founded by two anesthesiologists, and hence anesthesiology has always held a special place in our hearts.

Over the years, our team has performed hundreds of thousands of procedures with zero anesthesia-related mortality — an achievement of immense significance, especially given the complexity of cases we handle. Today, we have grown into 12 units, with a strong and committed anesthesia team forming one of the pillars of our institution.

Beyond the operating room, our anesthesiologists have taken on multiple leadership roles:

As medical administrators, actively contributing to the smooth functioning of the hospital.

As quality assessors and NABH assessors, ensuring that standards of care are continuously elevated, not only within our group but in other hospitals as well.

This hybrid role — balancing clinical excellence, patient safety, surgeon satisfaction, and administrative governance — reflects the true spirit of our anesthesia team. It ensures that we maintain excellence in clinical governance, patient-centered care, and overall hospital quality.

As an anesthetist myself, I feel deeply proud of this specialty and the exceptional team we have built together. On this special occasion, I extend my heartfelt gratitude and best wishes to all our anesthesiology colleagues who continue to inspire us with their dedication and excellence.
