Background

The first case of a Middle Meningeal Artery (MMA) embolization for a 71-year-old male with recurrent chronic SDH was done successfully.

Discussion

This procedure has gained traction in recent times for patients with recurrent SDH. Previously the hypothesis was that SDH is due to venous bleed. Now it’s believed that it’s due to capillary bleed from middle meningeal artery which is a branch of internal maxillary artery of External Carotid Artery (ECA).

Outcome

Patient was discharged on that day itself with no neurological deficit.
