Watching the cars as they sail by
Each entrusted with a different destination, a different journey
A different comfort, a different life.
She pushed her warm brown hair off her shrugged shoulder
For a moment, suddenly, the world grew colder
Thinking about all she’s done and all she’s been through
Constantly wondering” Where does time fly to?”
If only she could reach the cavern where used time is most safely kept
In the dim light she would hold it in her tender arms and say
“Will you be my friend...for once?”
She longs to be let to live in a moment forever
Longs to once again feel safe and secure.
But time never flies back....
Captured in an impenetrable maze
Everyday struggling to turn the page
Her past reigns over her tomorrow
Her want to go back only drowns her in sorrow
A minute’s worth of memories
Keeps her occupied for days
Encircled only by the thoughts
Of the days that she has lost
The moments bygone
Should serve as memories and lessons
Not deprive us of a future worth existing in
Not force us to the cliff of depression
But she fails to realize
That her life isn’t done
Swallowed by the past
She forgets to live in now
All the moments she’ll henceforth miss
Her happiness eternally lost to the mists
While time continues to drift away...
